about this album

Under the fingers of Peggy Buard and Emilie Chevillard, the piano and the chromatic harp form a dyad: two distinct voices that converse and respond to one another, creating a musical universe where each timbre complements and intertwines with the other. Whether plucked, struck, hammered, rubbed, or interwoven, more than a hundred strings vibrate in their hands. The musicians explore the similarities and contrasts of their instruments, crafting an intimate and open jazz where improvisation weaves shifting soundscapes and blurs the boundaries between timbres and textures. While the eye distinguishes two instruments, the ear is taken by surprise and carries the listener into a world of resonances and mirages.

Two new artists make their debut on Yolk with a captivating album carved from silence and crystal. Perfectly in line with the path the label has charted since its inception, Dyade is the fruit of a tight-knit duo with a clear and recognizable voice. The harmony of timbres, the brilliance of sound and ideas are here at the service of a sensitive, original style—at times peaceful, at times fiery, fluid or mechanical. The atmosphere is meditative, at times transcendental; we swim in the depths, soar high as if flying over several continents, surrender to weightlessness, and imagine ourselves dancing with the elements.

Emilie Chevillard and Peggy Buard invite us into a lush and powerful world that leaves no one unmoved.
