career

Eclectic pianist, as comfortable in the most avant-garde contexts as in the great tradition of Jazz, in acoustic piano as in electric Rhodes or synthesizers, Bruno Ruder is both a sought-after sideman and the leader of his own projects.
During his time at the CNSM (from which he graduated in 2003 with a 1st prize) he was noticed by Riccardo Del Fra, who from then on regularly called on him, and made him start his career alongside top-notch musicians ( Joey Baron, Kenny Wheeler, Dave Liebman, Billy Hart, Tony Malaby, Roy Hargorve, Steve Grossman, Kurt Rosenwinkel…)
In 2002, he founded with Vincent Lê Quang and Jeanne Added the trio yes is a pleasant country, which, still active today, is his oldest group. They released their first album on Sans Bruit in 2011.
From 2008 to 2011, he was Magma's pianist, recording several albums and DVDs with the mythical group. In 2019 he was invited to play to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary at the Philharmonie de Paris.
In 2012, after having worked this form for many years, he began to perform solo piano, and recorded a first album, Lisières, released on the La Buissonne label in 2014. His second solo album, Anomalies, was released in 2022. at Vision Fugitive.
In January 2016, during a residency at the Opéra de Lyon, he founded a quintet with saxophonist Rémi Dumoulin, which includes Aymeric Avice on trumpet, Guido Zorn on double bass and legendary drummer Billy Hart. The disc Gravitational Waves (2017) bears witness to this adventure and met with great critical success.
Frédéric Maurin invites him in 2019 to be part of his ONJ, in which he plays Rhodes and synthesizer in Dancing in your Head and Frame by Frame, and piano in Rituels as well as in Ex Machina with Steve Lehman, Chris Dingman and Jonathan Finlayson .
He has been involved for years in Vincent Lê Quang's quartet, alongside Guido Zorn (double bass) and Joe Quitzke (drums). The Everlasting record (La Buissonne, 2022) testifies to this collaboration.
He also takes part in the reformation of the progressive rock group One Shot, of which he was a member from 2010 to 2015. The album 111 will be released in 2022.
He is also, in Rhodes, a member of Rémi Dumoulin's trio, who recorded Das Rainer Trio for the Neuklang label in 2019. He also plays in Luis Viña's Redux, as well as Emmanuel Scarpa's Blue Yonder and Le Qaudrivium projects. . He also performs in duet with Jeanne Added in a tribute to Prince, I Feel for you, commissioned by Printemps de Bourges.
He was for a time the pianist of Radiation 10, of the Umlaut Big Band, of the Spirit Dance Quintet of Yves Rousseau and Christophe Marguet, of the Démons de Tosca of Vincent Courtois, of ¿ Que Volà? of Fidel Fourneyron and participated in the group Kinski Elevator.
He had the opportunity to play on stage or in the studio with Han Bennink, Michel Portal, Tim Berne, Enrico Rava, Jeff Ballard, John Ruocco, Daniel Humair, Henri Texier, Tony Coe, Axel Dörner, Karim Ziad, Louis Sclavis, Guillaume Orti, Jozef Dumoulin, Aldo Romano, Bruno Chevillon, Guillaume Roy.
