Honestly who would do that nowadays?

Who would agree to record without rehearsing?
Which singer would agree to record without being able to do retakes or correct his voice?
Which saxophonist would take responsibility for each of his interventions, each of his solos?

This way of executing is as old as jazz but so transgressive these times.

This is where we find the essence of this music, often left abandoned in favor of a more produced, pop approach.
Here the musicians are on a knife edge, forced to listen extremely closely to the others.
No one knows what will happen, the confidence in the collective is total, the love of freedom and the risk of the moment is palpable.

Perfection is found in imperfection, in everything that is most human, most sincere, most sensitive.

After Les mots bleus, where Alban and Loïs covered pop songs and French classics, it’s jazz standards that are in the spotlig on Lazy afternoon.
